Drainage testing and commissioning prove that newly laid foul and surface-water systems are watertight (or meet the specified test) and that falls and connections work before they are buried for good. Building Control and adoption regimes commonly require recorded tests.

Typical sequence: complete a testable section (pipes and chambers), seal ends, apply the specified air or water test, record pass/fail, rectify defects, and retest. CCTV may be required for adoption or condition records in addition to pressure/water tests.
